Cube World may be the new Minecraft - With less crafting, and more fighting | Buy Cube World
It's been one Month since Cubeworld has been released as Alpha version and I have played it for 'some hours. What is Cubeworld, you may ask?
Cubeworld (or Cube World) is a Voxel-Based-Open-World-Action-RPG (think 3D Dot Game Heroes) for Windows (Mac and Console Ports are planned, too). According to the Developer "Wollay", it has been inspired by games like Minecraft, Zelda, Secret of Mana, Monster Hunter, Diablo, World of Warcraft "and many more".
While this may be true, Cubeworld still feels like a very original game, even if it's just because that mix is so unique.
The Art Style is very lovely and the Combat is fast & fun.
The only thing that bothers me ATM is that it
can take quite a while to shake an aggressive monster off your butt, but that's about it.
The Game Starts with you selecting your Class (Warrior, Mage, Rogue, Archer) and Race, at this time you can choose between Human, Elve, Frogman, Dinosaur, Skeleton, Goblin, Orc and Dwarf.
You can also choose Gender, but Voxel-titties aren't great, aye :P
Each Class can choose a Profession aswell, for example the Mage can become a Fire Mage or an Ice Mage, and your Weapons define your Attacks, too (This comes as a no-brainer, but it DOES also count for the mage! Different Weapon = Different Attacking Style).
What I really like about the game is that it's a) the first real Voxel-Style game I know (3D Dot Game Heroes was kinda meh...) and the good positioned camera! Yes! Many games nowadays don't bother much with good camera placement so you end up with a sub-optimal depth in gameplay. I like it when a game really draws me in, and Cube World does this quite well. The price for worst camera placement still goes to Mass Effect, which made me quit the game (I went totally OCD over this)
There are many different Regions in the game, but the map is so huge (randomly generated, duh) that I've only yet discovered the "normal" fantasy World and an epic Endboss level style Lavaworld.
Pets are also in the game, there are for example a corgi, a cow, horse, cow, camel, cat, sheep, cow, Alpaca, I want to ride a friggin' cow,.... Ermmm yess, you get what I mean.
I really want to ride a cow, though :o
Many things are planned for the game, Multiplayer for up to 4 Persons is already working, and it only costs 15$ right now, so be sure to grab yourself a(digital) copy and support Wollay and his Wife, who is also a part of the dev-team :)

The Character Creation Screen is very reminiscent of your overage MMO

AntwortenLöschenThat's what happens when you already make enough money with an alpha. Damn sellouts.
